As part of our Think Like An Engineer project with Sheffield University the children in Year 2 were involved in work called "Float Your Boat". The children had to design and make a boat that could float for one minute and hold four animals. As a result the children were involved in developing scientific language and different parts of the engineering project - exploration, skills building and tinker time. The video illustrates some of this work.

Think Like An Engineer - A STEAM Project for Ordsall Primary School

Ordsall Primary School has worked in partnership with Sheffield University on a STEAM project. Engineers commonly use a design process that involves thinking, developing ideas, making and testing and a big part of their work involves iteration and improving ideas and design. We think these are really important thinking routines that can be useful in other areas of life too. This project, with support from Royal Academy of Engineering’s Ingenious Fund, has helped our children to Think like an Engineer!
